Ghost and Angel Pictures

My name is Rebecca Dumas, I live in New York. It was a beautiful day, very warm May day. We were using a normal 35mm camera. This picture was taken a few years ago while I was getting ready for prom. The house I was in does have a spirit. I felt like there was something there with us while the picture was being taken.

When looking back at the picture we found that there was something walking in front of the camera. Now just a few weeks ago while the picture was being viewed online on Yahoo, my friends (living in the house where the picture was taken) noticed it started to turn (the spirit in the picture).

This awesome picture was taken by Heather in Pennsylvania of her son. She relates "I took this photo of my son with my Samsung Verizon camera phone. He was sitting with his back to the couch. I'm still trying to figure out what the apparition is behind him. I don't believe that is of him (movement). One theory was that it may have been a reflection of me but I don't know how that could have happened, I was taking the picture on the opposite side of the phone. A ghost maybe? I would love to know your take on it, it's got me wondering?!"

Too good to be true?

In this case you're right, it is to good to be true! The photographer named Janet wrote and admitted this was simply an experimental picture. Here's what she wrote: "Sorry, but it was a photo I did for a class. I used a 35mm camera on a tripod, a very slow shutter speed as my niece walked down the stairs in a white nightgown. This picture is about 10 years old." This photo of Janet's is absolutely a great fake.

Normal day in the afternoon. Dad was burning off a bit of overgrown grass in the backyard, Lachy just took the picture because he liked the look of the flames. A week later when we loaded it onto the computer, we were amazed to find that a face had shown up in the photo. We still have the original on the camera, to prove it has not been modified in any way. Since then we've had quite a few psychics look at it and they think it's an Aboriginal Guardian.

My sister and her kids used to mention regularly that there must a ghost in the house because it made a lot of noise, sometimes in an area of the house where nobody was at the time.

I cannot remember what exactly it used to do, but my sister was very pleased to finally "see" the guest in the photo we had taken of us one weekend when I visited her in Hamilton, Victoria.

My sister's house was renovated and extended. The noises never were heard in the newer part of the house. It appears a man is looking at us. We were standing where the old kitchen was. I've put a circle around the ghost figure. I asked my sister to make sure that it wasn't a reflection of light like the fairly straight line on the wall from a framed picture on the other wall (not seen in photo).

The picture was taken around winter time 2003. The photo was taken with a normal 35mm film camera just after lunch.

"I had my daughter sitting on my lap and took a pic of her with my digital camera...several in fact. As I was looking back at them, I was freaked out to see this image in between us. I have never seen anything like this, nor has anyone I have showed it to. I do have other children, but they were not in the house at the time the picture was taken. My husband is sitting on the couch to my left, but he wasn't moving. We can see a face at the bottom part of the pic that looks like someone is in between my daughter and myself."

Ok i took this pic in oaklin cemitary in philadelphia i was takeing pictures om my moms tombstone who passed away last year on november 7th the pic was taken around the end of november or the end of december i forget but i noted this in the back ground and i spoted 4 diifernt images i have another one that shows the locations if u cant see them.

The picture was taken in Pine Grove cemetery Sparrowbush NY. Standing back in the shade you can see the head of a ghostly figure amongst the trees. The cemetery isn't that big but we have captured more pictures from this cemetery than the other ones.

In an apartment abroad. Albert walked to his room then he found his room mate was sleeping. took a photograph of his friend. that evening he couldn't wake his friend up so he sent him to a hospital.

A doctor said there was not enough oxygen in body. After 2 weeks he found the picture that he took like this. As mentioned before, the story is a complete fabrication and the photo was created purposely by someone IT IS NOT A GHOST PHOTO.

I took this Polaroid picture on December 23, 2000. I loaded the camera (an I-Zone) myself and took the first picture of one of my daughters and it didn't turn out. I also took this second picture (attached). The picture is of my other daughter (I have 11 year old twins). To the left of her is the double exposed image from the first picture, but who is on the right of her (leaning down)? Every other picture on the roll turned out okay, but we just can't explain the third image in the photo. The girls were the only ones in the room at the time and besides, nobody here resembles the other image.

This picture is of me and my uncle. On the right side of the picture there is something white. I have shown alot of people this pic and they all believe it is a Ghost. There are a couple of glares on the pic but that is from the light i had to put on it. sorry aout the glares lol. There is a mirror behind the white thing but i do not think its a glare. Tell me what you think. I have enclosed several pics. The one that is really dark is just to show you what it looks like with the light off of it. Thanks a bunch!

The photo to the left was taken in Lyme Regis, a coastal town in West Dorset, England, in December 2005. The location was an indoor camping site at Lyme Regis Boys Club in Church Street. When one of a group of children, a young 2 year-old girl, was seen talking to herself, she was asked who she was chatting with, her reply was she was talking to 'Sam'. There was no Sam in the party and there was no one else in the hall. When everyone had left, one of the adults took some pictures of the hall with a digital camera, and this spooky photo is the result. Is this a real photo of the ghost of Sam?

The building occupied by the Club was once the Parish Church Hall and was also used by the American Army during World War 2. It was taken over by the Boys Club in 1978 and extensively refurbished in 1993. There seems to be no history of ghosts and hauntings in the locality.

This is the famous picture of Bessie Bartlett, the little Ghost Girl, taken on Ann Street in Parkersburg, Do you see a little girl in this picture? This the part of the basement where Bessie died of Typhoid fever in the 1870s. Many people believe Bessie still haunts the lower part of this home. What do you believe?

In the summer of 2003, while staying at the Abbey, Ross Corby took a photo (left) of his wife sitting in the lobby, near the Cloisters Restaurant; not, incidentally a part of the building associated with any known hauntings. When they got home and downloaded the photograph from the digital camera onto the computer, they discovered that there was a mysterious clouding effect around the room, which was not visible to the naked eye at the time the spooky photo was taken. Apparently, it is not cigarette smoke as there was nobody else around at the time. Does it have any connection with hauntings at the Abbey? Perhaps it could even be a ghostly former resident of the haunted building?

There are a few stories of ghosts and hauntings at Coombe Abbey. One concerns Abbot Geoffrey, murdered at Coombe, probably by one of his own monks, in 1345. There have been reports of a cowled figure floating around the grounds, and of various objects being hurled around in the kitchens, the latter poltergeist type activity being attributed to the restless spirit of the murdered monk. There are also tales of Matilda, a green-eyed gypsy girl betrayed in love by the master of Coombe more than 300 years ago. She put a curse on the family which apparently caused premature death for the eldest sons, and now her ghostly footsteps can be heard on the cobbles near the stables.

Other ghostly legends connected with the Abbey include a mysterious horseman, said to ride past the lodge house at night, and a strange woman in Victorian clothes riding a bike on the road outside the abbey. Today there are frequent reports of mysterious draughts, doors slamming on their own, and a eerie presence. On occasion guests have been so frightened that they have ran out of their rooms.

While I was on holiday in Sydney, Australia, just recently with my wife (Janine) we took a sightseeing trip to check out some of the city's more exclusive homes with their even more exclusive Pacific Ocean views. We were travelling light so I only packed my trusty Kodak EZ200 portable web camera with USB cable, and happily snapped all along the way. It wasn't until later that day when I hooked my camera up to a PC that I discovered what I had captured; the first photo shows what a great view the residents of this graveyard get of the ocean, the next photo, taken a few minutes later, shows ... well I'm not quite sure but I was somewhat shocked, Janine thought I was playing a joke on her ... no joke!

I received this interesting email from Geoffrey Shepard..

"..about the photo that you have of the grave yard! ..well it was Waverley cemetery! I saw the same ghost at night about 11 years ago only with my own eyes with several other ghosts of different colours. It happened at about midnight in the middle of the grounds, after seeing the photo it really impressed me that you got a photo of the same ghost that I will never forget."

This picture was taken with a digtal camera on Aug. 17, 2000 in the USA in Texas the time was 9:17 pm. The camera was brand new! and just bought that day by a friend of mine. Him and his wife came for a visit and he was showing me his new camera and was playing around taking pictures with it. The picture was taken of me standing on my back deck. You can see my home to the left of me. No one was smoking. I was chatting with his wife that was leaning against their car to the right of me. He was directly in front of me taking the picture with a flash. I had a bad day that day because both my kids and husband was sick. I was very tired and seemed to feel like I was chocking when the picture was taken.
Ghosts? I dunno but I do know this that the land that my house sits on,
has alot of history behind it.

November 19, 1995, Wem Town Hall in Shropshire, England burned down to the ground. As many spectators gathered around the old building consumed by flames (built in 1905), Tony O'Rahilly was one of the onlookers who took photos of the scene with a 200mm telephoto lens from across the street. One of the photos showed what looks like a small, partially transparent girl standing in the doorway. Niether O'Rahilly nor any of the other onlookers or firefighters recalled seeing the girl there. Further examination of the negative proved the ghost picture to be authentic and not tampered with.

Above is one of the finest examples of unexpected phenomenon showing up on film that we have encountered. It was submitted by a reader who's son is mugging for the camera - and look what showed up behind him in a fully lit room full of people! The reader preferred this his son's identity not be published, so I did the masterpiece of artwork over his face, but as far as we can tell, that is the only retouching that has been done on this picture, which again, in our opinion is an absolutely awesome example of inadvertent ghost photography....yes there is someone ducking out of view on the couch.

I was taking some pictures of my pet pig, and by the fence I caught an image of a young lady in a long dress. It looks like her arms are crossed. I am very much into the paranormal. I have seen things all my life, but this time I had a visitor watching. I didn't notice until I saw the pic. She wasn't there at the time, and nothing is by my fence. A lot of people have seen this pic and see a lady. We call her "Ghost Lady." As you can see, she was looking right at me when I was taking the pic. Ghosts are real, whether people want to believe in them or not!

An SX-70 picture taken by a Ms. Sahah of Chicago, Illinois in November of 1982 at the gravesite of her grandmother who died in April of 1934 at the age of 83. It appears to be a double- exposure but this is long before that was possible with an SX-70 camera. In this model, the film exits the camera and develops in your hand in sixty seconds. There are two distinct figures in the fog; one of a girl in long brown hair apparently holding a black animal in her lap and an older boy with his left arm around her waist. His right arm actually trails out of the photograph towards the bottom center. He is wearing a blue t-shirt with some sort of writing on it.

This photograph was taken with an old-styled Polaroid land camera in 1959 at a location on north Damon Ave. in Hanover Park, Illinois which no longer exists. It shows a real girl standing on the stairs and this strange mist-like substance which seems to be exuding from her stomach region and collecting along the entire stairway. Some parts are translucent while others seem visually opaque. This may be a psychic photograph; in other words ectoplasm being produced by a living person. Externalization of thought.

The case of the SS Watertown is a classic example of what many believe to be an authentic ghost photograph. The story, as recounted by the eminent and long-time director of the American Psychical Institute, Dr. Hereward Carrington, and as detailed in the house magazine of the shipping company, told of the tanker, SS Watertown making its way through the Pacific Ocean in December 1924. Seaman James Courtney and Michael Meehan were assigned to clean out a cargo tank. While doing this task they were overcome by gas fumes and died before help could reach them. Following the tradition of the sea, their bodies were committed to the ocean on December 4th. The following day, just before dusk, the entire ship was in uproar when the heads of the two dead seamen were clearly seen on board ship and, later, in the sea. Thereafter the ghost faces were frequently seen. A snapshot was taken and the camera, with film intact and untouched inside, was handed to Captain Keith Tracy for safekeeping. On reaching port in New Orleans the Captain handed the camera over to officials of the Cities Services Company and they sent it directly to their New York office, where the film was developed and printed by a commerical photographer, and there were the heads of Courtney and Meehan, exactly as they had been seen on board ship!

This photo was taken nearly 2 years ago. My boyfriend (the one in the photo holding the knife) worked on the fishing boats. It was late at night, out in the middle of the ocean, when he fell in the sea trying to pull in a marlin, trying not to get speared by the fish he pulled himself out and that is when the photo was taken.

If you look in the water near the marlin's fin you can see a face. The photo was taken with your normal run of the mill camera, nothing flash.

My mother was taking a picture of the patriotic decorations on the kitchen table at our Memorial Day party this past sunday, May 30, 2004. We live in Friendship, Maryland. Anne Arundel county, in the United State of America. It was simply taken with a digital camera so that we can download our pictures to the internet. Its still really freaky that we dont know what it is. My mother thinks that there are two people there because she sees two heads and well I dont know what to think.

After asking somebody to take their picture, what they saw on the phone's screen shocked them. A ghostly being was beside the girl in right and it appeared to be holding her arm. FREAKY! "

This is another common photo floating around the Internet that is mistaken as a ghost photo.

The problem with this photo is that it's really quite obvious that it's not a ghost photo at all - in fact the poor woman pictured here has had her face plastered all over the Internet and publicised as a ghost - when she is very much alive and well.

The photo has caught her in an unfortunate position - it's obvious by the blur that she is moving forward quickly - therefore one leg (left) is caught mid air up behind her (possibly trying to step over and avoid the pram you see beside her)...you can just see the tip of the foot dangling down from the edge of her coat - and her other leg (right) is caught back behind the black pole holding up the chain link. When you suddenly run forward your body usually leans forward then your legs take off - that's what's happened to this woman - her leg is back behind the pole giving this photo the odd appearance of her having no legs.

This picture of a ghostly trio from Down Under is one of the most unique ghost images I have ever encountered. Here is the story in the photographer's own words:

Years ago, my brother and his wife and kids moved into a hotel in Gawler, South Australia, a small town north of Adelaide. After carrying out renovations on the building that was built in 1836, strange things started to happen, people started to hear strange things and see the apparition of a small girl and an older man. Being a skeptic, I didn't believe it until my brother started to see things as well. All the stories from different people were the same so I got interested, and being a photographer (weddings, etc.) I thought I would have a go at getting something on film. A friend and I stayed in the hotel all night in the section that used to be the Gawler morgue last century before it was turned into a hotel. It was very eerie and I could feel the presence of the spirits or what ever you call them. It was so strong a feeling that it is hard to describe.

This photo was taken on 200iso speed Kodak TMax film B&W. I also tried infrared film without much success. After developing the film I had a quick look at it and didn't think I had captured anything until a week or so later when I was doing some testing in the dark room and I noticed a negative which looked different than the rest.

"I made a copy and could not believe it. I then took a copy to every photo expert I could find and they all said it was unexplainable. After the initial carry on about it, we decided to throw them in a drawer and forget about it until the local Gawler paper, The Bunyip, contacted me four or five years later in March 1998. The South Australian Advertiser (South Australia's main newspaper) also ran a story on the photo.... Then in April of the same year 'A Current Affair' (TV Program) did an interview with me at the Old Spot Hotel which aired on Channel 9 in April, 1998, around Australia."
